Beau Clardy, born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, has seen firsthand the massive growth and development occurring in this region and how intentional planning has shaped the city's accommodation of it. Living in a city consistently ranked among the best places to live, Beau became inspired to study what made Greenville so successful and to foster similar growth elsewhere, ultimately wanting to advance walkability and alternative modes of transportation in communities across the region.

Beau earned his Bachelor of Arts in History with a double minor in City Planning and Religious Studies. While at Clemson, he found the intersection of history and planning to be of particular interest, which inspired him to pursue his Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning at Clemson University.

Working as a researcher and teaching assistant during his time at Clemson, as well as holding an internship at Plusurbia, Beau became acutely aware of the importance of presenting findings to diverse groups of people. This interest continues to fuel his desire to create common ground for all people to enter the planning process.

Planning, at its most successful, incorporates all stakeholders and allows everyone to have meaningful input in the planning process. The goal of planners, in my mind, is to bring everyone to the table and make it possible for them to successfully achieve their goals.
