Commercial Construction & Renovation has released its 9th issue of 2025, featuring an opinion piece by Juan Mullerat, Principal at Plusurbia, and highlighting our master planning work in Wynwood as the cover story with a six-page spread.
The article, “The Making of Wynwood: Miami’s Cultural Hub,” explores how the Wynwood Neighborhood Revitalization District (NRD-1) and NRD-2 frameworks helped guide the neighborhood’s evolution from a warehouse district into a vibrant, mixed-use community that celebrates art, culture, and local identity.

Wynwood has become a cultural and economic hub, known worldwide for its art, entertainment, and distinctive urban character. In 2015, Plusurbia introduced the Wynwood NRD-1 to the City Commission with the intent to provide tools for growth that prioritized inclusivity, mixed uses, and a vibrant public realm.

A decade later, Wynwood continues to flourish as a 24/7 community while maintaining its unique identity. The district’s success reflects a deliberate, incremental approach centered on thoughtful zoning, extensive community engagement, and a shared vision for sustainable urban growth.

At Plusurbia, design begins and ends with people. Our work in Wynwood reflects a commitment to collaboration, transparency, and place-driven planning that balances growth with authenticity. Through inclusive engagement and thoughtful zoning, we continue to create places where communities can thrive.
