Project Type: Planning, Zoning & Urban Design
Project Status: Completed
Site Area: 16 acres
Team: PlusUrbia Design
Client: OMNI CRA
The Miami Arts and Entertainment District (MAeD) is an urban mixed-use neighborhood within the OMNI CRA just north of Downtown Miami. The MAeD part of the OMNI CRA is where art, events, restaurants, and technology converge as a new economic hub for South Florida.
PlusUrbia completed a pedestrian and zoning study to predict potential build-out, tempered by height limitations to protect the scale of historic buildings on a critical block of North Miami Avenue. Related research created walkable complete streets with streetscapes to support sidewalk cafes and other vibrant urban activities.
The MAeD district is bounded by NE 24th Street to the north, I-395 Interstate to the south, the Florida East Coast [FEC] Railway/NE 2nd Avenue to the west, and Biscayne Bay to the east. It is west of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and surrounding development.
